There is a new number 1 in grades 1A, 2A, 4A and 5A.  In Class 5A, the defending champion Pike Street moved to class 6A.

The Patriots, under new coach Ed Rigby, are ranked 6th in their new class. Longtime title threat UMS-Wright started the season at #1 in 5A. 

Veteran coach Terry Curtis is seeking his ninth state title at the school. Vitality is ranked 2nd in class 5A.

 Wolves won the 4A title last fall before moving  to the 5A this year. They also have a new coach in Markus Cook replacing John McKenzie. 

Montgomery Catholic jumped from 3A to 4A to take the No. 1 spot there. Fyffe is 1st in 2A, Brantley is 1A and Glenwood is the highest ranked AISA team. 

 In Grade 7A, Mark Freeman's Warriors are competing to be the first 7A team to win four consecutive titles. 

Class 6A No. 1 Clay-Chalkville enters the 2022 season with the  longest AHSAA winning streak in the state of 15 games.   The regular season starts in August. 18-19
