Maverick (MMA 10-4, UFC 3-2) posted a statement on  Young (MMA 8-4, UFC 1-2) on social media (via Instagram).

" Well... the fight is over boy. @shanimalshannayoung is sick and hospitalized (assuming  weight loss). She wishes her  full and speedy recovery. "

"We are ready, very prepared and improved  for this camp. I'm already gaining weight (less than a pound to float in the morning)."

"I hope to see a really good match on Saturday and get back in the cage as soon as possible......................"

"Thank you for the support and thank you to my team for investing in me and the people who came out for this fight "

UFC 278 was set to be last fight on Maverick's contract, according to a person with knowledge of the circumstances, who spoke on condition of anonymity. I'm looking for new matches.

The UFC has yet to comment on the severity of Young's condition. UFC 278 will take place at Vivint's gym in Salt Lake City.

The main card will air on pay-per-view on ESPN/ABC and ESPN+ after the qualifiers.
