Rocky IV's Russian antagonist, Ivan Drago,  is now gearing up for  his own movie, potentially opening up  another franchise in the wider Rocky universe.

Yet, over the last four decades he's had one character conspicuously missing from the franchise....

Bodyguard-turned-actor Mr. T. became a star in the role, impersonating the brave Lang and becoming the most memorable aspect of the film. Why haven't we seen him since Rocky III?

In a 2010 chat with fans hosted by Ain't It Cool News, Sylvester Stallone admitted he wanted to bring the character back in 2006's Rocky Balboa, the sixth film in the franchise.

"I was writing an elaborate story for Mr. T (aka Clubber Lang) that was reminiscent of George Foreman, turned ring analyst," explained the star and screenwriter.

He commented step by step and also talked about his new job as an evangelist. What it's like to fight Rocky Balboa while Rocky fights someone else.

Stallone noted that the production "failed to meet the  financial needs of the actor", so the role was rewritten for someone else. Later, Lang's return was again considered.

"I'm not going to lie. There was a moment when I was really stingy and thought about Claver Lang." Jordan  also talked about it.

Lang is in the West or New Mexico, like he has a daughter or something. We played around with  different ideas. ”
